The Recording Workshop started putting on sound engineering courses and music production courses in 1989 and has grown and evolved ever since. TRW pioneered the small class method of teaching sound engineering & music production which focusses on the practical use of the equipment rather than the academic theoretical approach favoured by universities.

Founded in 1989 The Recording Workshop is one of the longest established sound engineering & music technology schools in the UK. The courses are practical & hands-on where you learn by using the equipment. All the material is projected on to a 52 inch screen including the computer programs so that all classmates can easily follow what is being demonstrated. The focus is on understanding rather than learning anything by heart. You are encouraged to experiment and develop your own styles and approach to production. Taught by world class & experienced sound engineering teachers and musicians with over 28 years combined teaching experience and 60 years sound engineering experience. The Recording Workshop has deliberately kept itself small since it started over 20 years ago. The main emphasis is on keeping the teaching personal and accessible with the minimum techno-babble. 1989, THE RECORDING WORKSHOP has provided all aspects of part time
& full time certificated Music Technology, Music Production & Sound Engineering courses to over 3000
